I like to draw and design clothes. My dream is to be a fashion designer, and what inspired my design is that the world is changing and we haven’t updated ourselves to fit in the New World.

I did this drawing because I love doing art and it is like therapy for me. Also I feel like people need to wake up and and do what they have to do and plus for females. Women back then had fought for our rights to vote so we should vote because if we don’t then what was the point of their fight for that.

I paint landscapes and I bicycle around the country in my retirement, painting and gathering photos to work on later in studio.
My faith teaches that black people are likened unto the pupil of the eye. They are surrounded by white, holding it in place. The pupil lets in the light, “sees the reflection of that which is before it, and thorough it the light of the spirit shineth forth.” That’s a beautiful metaphor. And POC have long been the moral voice of conscience for this country calling us to fulfill the truths enshrined in our constitution. All men are created equal…e pluribus unum.
John Lewis was certainly one of those powerful voices. A friend encouraged me to enter saying “Just do what you do with this theme in mind.”

I am 4 years old and love to fly our American flag. I just started pre-K and I am sad we don’t say the pledge of allegiance every morning. I enjoy riding horses and playing with my family and friends. My mom carries the American flag for opening ceremonies at our horse competitions and I plan to carry it when I get older. I can’t wait until I’m old enough to vote too!
Age 18

I am a first-year student at Ithaca College studying Cinema and Photography. I’ve been designing posters for a few years now and I love the fact that we can use art to send a message to people. Posters may look really simple on the outside but they have so much meaning behind them. My design is about lowering the voting age and I wanted to emphasize three particular reasons why we should be changing the age to 16. It seems as if the values of our nation support lowing the voting age, and yet we haven’t done it.

My design was illustrated to help convince people to lower the voting age to 16. The youth should have a say in our future and the direction of society. As seen in my design, I strive to use visuals to show this.

I’m a printmaker, graffiti artist, and designer passionate about the intersections of art and justice. I coordinate murals throughout Ithaca as part of an art and culture strategy for community organizing and justice movement building. Everyone is an artist – including you. Together we are strong. These pieces are spray-painted stencils with photo overlays of inspiring leaders. Thank you for inspiring me and many others to get out the vote!
