• Preregister to vote! In New York State, if you’re 16 or 17 you can “preregister” to vote and you will be automatically registered when you turn 18. Find out if you can preregister to vote in your state.

• Register to vote in NY State. Qualifications to Register to Vote in NY: be a United States citizen; be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18); resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election; not be in prison for a felony conviction; not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court; not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

• Go to Vote411 to find out what’s on your ballot, check your registration status, find your polling place, discover upcoming local debates, and more.

• Become a change maker through YVote, which is sparking a cross-partisan youth voting movement through which young people connect their passions and beliefs with how they can make a difference, at and beyond the ballot box.

• Join the movement through GenVote, an intersectional youth-led movement that fights for our right to vote and a just democracy for all.
